Ginkgo Biloba
Promote the Health of Your Eyesight
The Ginkgo Biloba tree has been used for medicinal purposes in China for at least 5,000 years to treat a variety of conditions.
Now, modern medicine is finding proof that it also helps your sight.
Ginkgo leaf extract has been the object of numerous scientific and clinical studies since the early 1970s and is now probably the most extensively studied and utilized botanical extract in the world.

Macular Degeneration
In one study, people with Macular Degeneration received either a placebo or a standardized ginkgo extract. After six months, the vision of those in the ginkgo group improved significantly.
German researchers conducted a similar study. They gave either ginkgo or a placebo to 44 elderly men and women with macular degeneration. After just one month, the ginkgo group showed improved vision.
Retinal Detachment
Both animal and human studies conducted in Russia and other countries have revealed that Ginkgo extract can help to prevent retinal detachment, while also increasing antioxidant activity in patients' blood, tears and plasma.
Glaucoma
Ginkgo Biloba holds promise as a glaucoma treatment, according to Robert Ritch, MD.
Dr Ritch notes that Ginkgo Biloba affects ocular blood flow, protects the optic nerve and affects the immune system, interfering with some of the suspected causes of glaucomatous nerve damage.
Cataracts
Ginkgo Biloba has not been extensively studied yet in relation to cataracts, though animal studies indicate Gingko may help reduce the risk for cataracts.
However, Ginkgo Biloba helps to preserve vitamin E levels in the body. Since vitamin E is a well documened cataract-fighting nutrient, it suggests that the synergistic effect of Gingko with vitamin E should help cataracts.
How much Ginkgo should you take each day?
Subjects in the Macular Degeneration studies were given 80 mg. twice a day. Other experts suggest taking between 120 to 240 mg per day.
That information indicates taking 2-3 tablets per day. At that level, our bottles give you a 20-30 day supply.
