EYEnews: CLARITY, FOCUS AND VISION FOR YOUR SIGHT AND YOUR LIFE

Seeing Vision Differently
Martin Sussman, Cambridge Institute for Better Vision

After nearly 30 years teaching vision improvement, I know for certain that it is possible to improve your vision and see better without glasses and contacts. I've seen it in my own eyes and I've seen it in the eyes of thousands upon thousands ofMartin Sussman other people.

But I've also seen countless others stop themselves from having better vision naturally.

Why? Because they haven't separated themselves from the mass mind-set belief that says improving vision is impossible.

Consider this: Fifty years ago, there was no proof smoking was bad for your health. In fact, doctors RECOMMENDED it! Thirty years ago, there was no proof regular exercise was good for your health. Nowadays, not everybody exercises and some people still smoke, but EVERYBODY knows smoking is bad for you and that exercise is good for you.

That's a transformation in cultural consciousness!

What's it going to take to see that kind of cultural shift around natural vision improvement?

Some say, “When there's scientific proof, everybody will believe it.

Did you know that there are dozens, if not hundreds, of studies in optometric journals that show that visual acuity can be improved, that visual functioning can be enhanced, and that glasses and contacts can be reduced in strength (even when they are not totally eliminated)?

Unfortunately, this research hasn't penetrated into the cultural consciousness - yet. Here are two examples:

During World War II, Dr. Samuel Renshaw trained Air Force pilots to sharpen their ability to recognize enemy planes more accurately and more quickly. Renshaw also discovered that an offshoot of the training was that the pilots' visual acuity improved.

More recently, The New York Times reported on a study that appeared in the journal Vision Research. Participants in their late teens and early twenties with amblyopia (lazy eye) improved the vision in their affected eye by an average of 70% as measured by eye charts. And that was only after 9 to 19 days of training!

This study directly challenges the long-standing belief that if amblyopia was not helped by about age 8, it would be too late to do anything about it.

Before I created The Program for Better Vision, I also conducted a test. I gathered 25 people and had an eye doctor measure their vision. Then I asked each of them to follow the same system that's in The Program for Better Vision and eight weeks later the same eye doctor tested their eyes again. Every single one needed a weaker pair of glasses. And that was in spite of the fact that many of the people had years and years - even decades - of poor vision.

Consider this: What is REALLY true is that there is absolutely no scientific proof that a person cannot improve his or her vision through natural means.

There can be a shift in vision!
