Macular Degeneration Laser Surgery Has Risks
Natural Healing for Macular Degeneration (ARMD or AMD)
Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD or AMD)
Excerpts from the audio that you will hear:
If you take the laser treatment for Macular Degeneration (ARMD) you have a 4 to 15 percent chance that 5 years from now you're going to be seeing better than you would have otherwise, but a pretty hefty chance, well over 50%, that you're going to be seeing a lot worse immediately than you would have if treatment were not done
I've had people come to me who have had 20/60 vision in the left eye from Macular Degeneration which had been treated with the laser, 20/400 vision in the right eye which had not been treated with the laser and when I'm through with my treatment they still see 20/60 in the left eye but they're seeing 20/25 or 20/30 in the right eye
If you see the loss of the foveal reflex - any eye doctor can measure this - you're dealing with either a vitamin A deficiency or very early macular degeneration. And this is reversible. The loss of the foveal reflex is not natural
the earlier you do something for macular degeneration (AMD or ARMD) the better...
"...In the literature there are two nutrients that have been proven to be effective in reversal of macular degeneration. Zinc was proven in an article written in the Archives of Ophthalmology, which is an AMA journal. The dose they used was 200 mg that I consider to be toxic and they use zinc sulfate, which is the worst form that they could of used. Nevertheless, it was a step in the right direction..."
"...The reason zinc does improve vision is that zinc is essential for transporting vitamin A from the liver to the eye. And zinc is also necessary to quench free radicals...."
"...Vitamin E has been proven to improve vision in persons with macular degeneration. Individuals with higher levels of vitamin E have less loss of vision than persons with lower levels of vitamin E..."
Bioflavinoids are well recognized to prevent edema or swelling and are very effective in reducing the edema of macular degeneration
Central serous retinopathy, in which fluid accumulates between the retina and the retinal pigmented epithelium, and it looks like a little blister at the back of the eye. Sometimes, it can be a huge blister in the back of the eye. Vitamin C and bioflavinoids will reverse that and it takes 7 days
.
What is the rationale for the use of nutrients, the theoretical rational behind that? One, we need to quench free radicals
"...We know that one fifth of the population cannot convert beta-carotene into vitamin A because of a thyroid deficiency..."
The body controls free radicals by the use of certain enzymes which require certain minerals: zinc, copper, manganese and selenium. Of those, probably around 60-odd percent of everyone in the American population is zinc deficient, probably not more than 15% are copper deficient, virtually everyone is selenium deficient, and at least 80-90% are manganese deficient
When I'm treating a patient who has a loss of vision due to Macular Degeneration I really have to treat the whole body and the eyes come along for the ride. It's not a matter of treating just the eye for ARMD, it's a matter of treating the whole person and restoring health to the whole person, because until you do their eyes are not going to get well
"... The effective agent in these oils is Gamma-linolenic acid, which the body can synthesize from any essential fatty acid such is found in safflower oil or corn oil, olive oil...if you have adequate levels of vitamin E, if you have adequate levels of selenium, and if you have adequate levels of thyroid hormone, all three of which are pretty unlikely, particularly in a person with macular degeneration..."
" Thyroid hormone is necessary for treatment of macular degeneration and in fact I think thyroid deficiency is probably the underlying cause of macular degeneration..."
"...All hydrogenated fats should be eliminated from the diet which I realize is impossible but they should try to do it to whatever degree they can..."
So what is the effectiveness of this mode of treatment in my practice for Macular Degeneration (AMD or ARMD)? Eighty-eight percent over the last 2-year study that I did improved significantly, one or more lines of visual acuity improvement. Of those who were blind at the onset of the study, 54% were no longer blind at the end of the study
