The fish oil that is used in Ocu-Omega is derived mostly from wild-harvested, small fish such as anchovy and sardine. This is generally considered to be desirable, as the potential contaminants often found in larger fish have not had the time or ability to concentrate as they move up the food chain. Furthermore, after being removed from the fish, the oil is subjected to a process of distillation, which aids in the elimination of contaminants. However, the most important factor in ensuring that the Omega-3 fatty acid products we offer do not pose a risk due to PCB contamination is the fact that the oils used in our soft gels conform to the voluntary monograph published by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN). This monograph sets forth limits for heavy metals and other contaminants including PCBs. The limit set for PCBs is < 0.09 ppm for the sum of the PCBs identified as IUPAC numbers 28, 52, 101, 118, 138, 153, and 180. Macular Degeneration
In one study, people with Macular Degeneration received either a placebo or a standardized ginkgo extract. After six months, the vision of those in the ginkgo group improved significantly.
German researchers conducted a similar study. They gave either ginkgo or a placebo to 44 elderly men and women with macular degeneration. After just one month, the ginkgo group showed improved vision.
Retinal Detachment
